Amparo’s mission is for art patrons to confidently purchase artwork, knowing it will fit perfectly in their space. The artists’ artwork should, and will always be, front-and-center for us, but we also want to present the artwork in an environment that our patrons will feel is similar to their own. To ensure we deliver on our goal, we provide patrons with access to a color wheel (see below). This allows users to enter the hex code for the color of their wall, so they won’t have to worry about whether it will match either a wall in your bedroom or office; as long as you know what color your wall is, you will be able to match it on amparoart.com.
Why Does it Matter?
So, why does this matter so much to us? Simply put, color theory.
What is color? In a formal sense, it is the element caused by differing qualities of light reflected or emitted from an object, per Pantone. Colors can be described by their hue (the name of a color), saturation (intensity of a hue), and value (lightness and darkness of a hue). Color in art evokes feelings and emotions and ultimately creates a mood. Adding shade to a hue causes the hue to darken, resulting in traditional feelings of formality, authority, death, or evil. On the other hand, a tint comes from adding white. The more white added, the warmer the color: traditionally associated with feelings of optimism, clarity, and growth.
The vibrancy of the artwork will typically fill the space on the wall, which is why many museums, galleries, and online art websites use a pure color like white to remain unbiased in presentation. But many of us don’t have blank white walls like a museum, which can be for the better. By utilizing the color on your wall, you can enhance the story of your art collection, accentuating the moods and feelings you associate with the artwork and complimenting the potential of the space.
